F1 Ferrari team Boss Fred Vasseur has labelled power upgrade Claims for the Prancing Horse as a “joke”.
Vasseur started his role at Maranello on January 9 with the objective of leading Ferrari to its first championship win since 2008. However, Vasseur faces the challenge of fixing the organizational issues that hindered the team’s performance last season. Mistakes in strategy and reliability problems allowed Red Bull to secure wins in both the driver’s and constructor’s championships
Important points were missed due to power unit failures for Charles Leclerc in Spain and Azerbaijan. Carlos Sainz also experienced issues including a fiery retirement in Austria. Despite expectations of improvement, rumors have arisen of a potential 30bhp power increase for the Scuderia. Vasseur dismissed labels of power upgrade claims, stating: “I have no idea where these numbers are coming from, it’s just a joke.”
He further clarified, “We’ve made some steps but it’s just about reliability.”
